The organization was founded in 2006, since then BSCF has been providing a wide range of cultural and social activities and services to the Bangladeshi community in Montreal. BSCF is working with many other communities to assist the community of Montreal in the build of a multi ethnic platform within and its surrounding areas
Our goal is to better integrate the Bangladeshi community with the society of Quebec and to reach out cultural communities so as to achieve greater harmony and collaboration
BANGLA MELA: It is commonly used to describe a large gathering of people celebrating their culture, tradition and heritage – a fair or a festival.
BRIEF HISTORY: The first Bangla Mela Montreal took place in 2008, produced and organized by Bangladesh Socio-Cultural Forum of Canada (BSCF Canada). Bangla Mela is an artistically led celebration of Bangladeshi culture and creativity. It is the most prestigious Mela in Montreal to commission new work and it provides a platform for emerging Bangladeshi Canadian artists as well as bringing traditional and classical art forms to a wider audience. Critically acclaimed, the Bangla Mela features the best in of family entertainment such as Mela stalls, food core, live music, kids activities, fashion show, traditional dances, instruments play, exhibitions, documentary display, poetry reciting, drama, comedy, be who you wants to, DJ and with a third of the audience from non-Bangladeshi communities, it is a truly inter-cultural family event with something for every generation of every community.
